• living in Huddersfield, UK
• working remotely as a Golang Engineer
• our little one is coming up on their first birthday, which has been the best and most tiring year of my life
• continuing to explore UK rail data and build Headcode, an API around the messy reality of UK railway identifiers and real-time feeds (wrote about the workflow here)
• building small tools for problems I actually have, including a toddler bedtime calculator and a drawer-box cut-list calculator
• turning the experiments into a small workshop of interactive tools and prototypes, combining software with woodworking and DIY around the house
• developing a more structured way to work with AI: research first, then PRDs, small tasks, implementation, and review. I’m also learning what it means to own the harness rather than treating AI coding tools as black boxes
• writing about practical AI adoption, engineering workflows, Go, and the projects I’m learning through on the blog
• still hoping to get back to the home smart lighting project when there’s time
• squeezing in photography, flying drones, and DIY on the house when I get the odd free weekend
